DESCRIPTION

This position will provide overnight per diem patient care coverage 7 days a week, including various holidays, for both the Emergency Room and various Urgent Cares. The NP's role is to manage the care of ED observation patients, Acute Care at Home, Senior Emergency Care Unit patients as well as see patients in the Urgent Care. The NP provides continuity of patient care across shifts as they are the primary caregiver for observation & urgent care patients.

The primary areas for this position include UC San Diego Health's newly opened Senior Emergency Care Unit, and ED Inpatient and Observation unit scheduled to open in October 2019. May float to our Urgent Care locations in La Jolla and Rancho Bernardo as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.

  • California Registered Nurse (RN) license, California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license, and Furnishing License Certification.

  • Current NP Specialty Certification from one of the following Nursing Boards: AANP, ANCC, NCC, PNCB, AACN.

  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six months of hire date.

  • PALS certification.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent working experience as an NP in an Emergency Department.

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Must be able to work within a team environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Five (5) years of NP experience in an Emergency Department.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to obtain UCSD Medical Staff privileges.
  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
