Normal Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:45pm, limited nights/weekends

Job Summary: The Accountant III supervises and participates in the maintenance of advanced accounting and financial records. Prepares integrated financial and statistical reports, statements, projections, and recommendations. Generally supervises the activities of a staff within a business unit or department.

Additional Department Summary: The Assistant Director of Finance works closely with the Business Office Director, the Purchasing Director, the Health IT Director and other on the enterprise services management team to establish policy, organize and coordinate the services that fall under the financial umbrella of the College. The Assistant Director provides fiscal management, organization, administration and oversight of all aspects of accounting and budgeting for the College of Community Health Sciences, academic and clinical, Capstone Health Services Foundation, d/b/a University Medical Center and UMC Northport and The position also manages the clinical data reporting to ensure the integrity of the data for revenue reporting systems, financial reporting systems and accreditation reporting systems. Responsibilities include direct supervision, oversight and management of the accounting, data reporting cash management processes., Oversight includes establishing standardized practices for staff in other direct reporting divisions, including reception, business office and medical records.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting or Finance and four (4) years professional accounting experience; OR a Masters degree in Accounting or Business and 3 years professional accounting experience; OR CPA and 3 years professional accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications: CPA Preferred, proven extensive training, education and experience with various database systems, mining, reporting, developing dashboards. Preference given to candidates with experience in a healthcare setting. Ability to supervise and lead team in a dynamic and an environment of constant growth and change. Ability to analyze and interpret complex data; Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports; Ability to monitor and adhere to quality control standards; Ability to work at a rapid pace with numerous interruptions; Ability to cope with stressful conditions; Ability to demonstrate tact, versatility, and adaptability; Ability to demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation and directional initiative.
