The Georgia Health Policy Center, established in 1995, provides evidence-based research, program development and policy guidance on local, state and national levels to improve health status at the community level. The center conducts, analyzes and disseminates qualitative and quantitative findings to connect decision makers with the objective research and guidance needed to make informed decisions about health policy and programs. Today the center is at work in more than 220 communities in all 50 states, helping our nation to improve health status.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Research Associate II (RA II) is a contributing member of the Community Health Systems Development (CHSD) team which provides a broad range of technical assistance to communities as they implement health improvement initiatives and build locally and regionally integrated health systems.  Technical assistance is centered around helping communities develop a strategic approach to program implementation, build capacity utilizing technical and adaptive approaches, and focus on long-term sustainability.   Essential to the success of this position is the ability to build positive relationships with representatives of grantee organizations and their collaborating partners.  This position may require extensive national travel at certain times of the year.

The ideal candidate will provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to communities funded through state and federal agencies. In addition to supporting communities, the Research Associate II will support CHSD team practice development by:

  • Helping to coordinate the development of new training tools, modules, and other resources.
  • Bringing new methods and modes to the technical assistance work.
  • Developing processes for assessing, understanding, and tailoring support to grantee needs.
  • Communicating the impact of funding on organizations, collaborations, and communities.

In addition to these responsibilities, the RA II will:

 

  • Serve as a project coordinator and support the management of grants and contracts.
  • Contribute to the research team through qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Contribute to the development of creative solutions to complex health policy issues.
  • Conduct literature reviews, analyze results, and contribute to the team analytic plan.
  • Draft reports, abstracts, briefing papers, presentations, and other research-related communications.
  • Attend meetings and represent the GHPC at conferences and national meetings.
  • Serve as a mentor to Research Associates.


QualificationsMaster's degree and one year of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

The university announced in April 2008 that is will begin Division I-AA football in 2010.

The university’s innovative Touch the Earth program brings outdoor recreation ranging from backpacking, rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, rafting and water-skiing to out-of-state snow-skiing and snorkeling trips. And WRAS, Georgia State’s popular 100,000-watt radio voice, is the most powerful student-run radio station in the United States.
