Job Description:


York College is seeking a full time Content Support Specialist in the Library and Technology Services department. The content Support Specialist will be responsible for:


Acquisitions Responsibilities:


  • Process approved requests for library materials: pre-order search, confirm availability, select most appropriate vendor, and place orders using integrated library system and relevant websites.
  • Select and import bibliographic records from the OCLC database into the integrated library system for ordering purposes; annotate orders with special handling instructions (e.g. course reserves, endowment fund bookplates, etc.).
  • Receive materials by verifying received material matches order; post and process invoices for payment.
  • Monitor open orders, claim unfilled titles, and return incorrect material.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with vendors; evaluate vendor performance.
  • Generate monthly fund report and other reports as needed to assist the Content Development Librarian with fund tracking and content assessment.

Subscriptions Responsibilities:


  • Order, renew, claim, maintain, and manage receipt and invoice processes for single-title periodical subscriptions regardless of format using the integrated library system, e-journal management system (Serials Solutions), vendor websites, and other appropriate tools.
  • Ensure that the public display of periodical titles and holdings rer gardless of format are accurate, timely, clear, and conform to national standards.
  • Support access to electronic resources by fixing broken links, updating Serials Solutions with changes to subscribed/purchased content, informing vendors of IP changes, running usage reports, and other support as needed.
  • Provide electronic delivery of archived print journals.

Systems Responsibilities:


  • Develop and maintain expertise in library circulation policies, procedures, and best practices, and train LTS Helpdesk staff and students in their implementation.
  • Run and manage daily reports for circulation activities, including overdue notices and patron HOLDs.
  • Run and distribute bibliographic and holdings extracts from integrated library system and Serials Solutions to keep public discovery tools (e.g., Enterprise, Summon) updated as well as fulfill consortial obligations (e.g. E-ZBorrow, RapidILL).
  • Provide other support as needed for various library systems that directly and indirectly impact student success and faculty research.

Other Responsibilities:


  • Stay informed of trends and best practices in library acquisitions, subscription management, and circulation to inform the development of policies and procedures.
  • Assist with student assistants.
  • Provide backup with interlibrary loan and cataloging as needed.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree
  • Relevant library experience, preferably in an academic library
  • Knowledge of library acquisitions and serials management processes
  • Knowledge of integrated library systems, national standards, and other library-related software.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
