Dean College's Joan Phelps Palladino School of Dance is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator to teach Men's Ballet Technique during the fall semester. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.
We are seeking an adjunct instructor to teach DAN 136-01: Men's Ballet Technique on-campus during the day. There is currently one DAN 136 section available on Tuesday/Thursday, 3:30-4:50pm. DAN 136: Men's Ballet Technique is a 1-credit course that meets for 3 hours/week. There are approximately 10 students in each section. The Palladino School of Dance provides a course charter with course objectives and learning outcomes, sample syllabi, and the course materials (i.e., course readings) for the class. The adjunct pay rate is $2800/section. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach.
- Teach blended-level course for male dance major or minor students, focused on the classical ballet elements necessary for improving the traditional vocabulary of the male dancer, based on a sound anatomical model. The course also emphasizes increasing strength, speed, coordination, and elevation, especially as needed to execute allegro steps in both classical and contemporary styles;
- Evidence of excellence in studio teaching at a professional or higher education level, as well as expertise in dance pedagogy and ballet/concert repertoire required;
- Maintain currency in the field;
- Other duties as assigned.
