Position Summary:

The Division of University Housing is committed to providing an exceptional workplace for its workforce of approximately 450 career staff members and over 2,000 students. University Housing operates nineteen residence halls across the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, providing a home to over 7,800 undergraduate students. We also operate three apartment communities, serving about 3,000 graduate students, academic staff, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and their families. In addition, we manage seven dining venues across campus, and provide conference group and youth camp housing throughout the summer months.

University Housing is divided into five main departments: Administration, Dining & Culinary Services, Residence Hall Facilities, Residence Life, and University Apartments. Whether we're launching new academic support services, testing out a new recipe, renovating resident rooms, organizing welcome events, cleaning our facilities, or inviting a new summer youth camp to campus, everything that we do is to support the mission of the University and fulfill University Housing's goal to be, "The place everyone wants to live."

The University Housing Human Resources department serves all Housing employee categories - full time, student, and temporary. Departmental scope ranges from payroll/benefits, to overseeing a robust student employment program and to recruitment, employee relations, leave of absences for the full time staff. The Department is comprised of 16 members, plus student employees.

Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Career Employment Manager, this position is responsible for assisting with the administrative and recruitment functions within the career employment team. This position also assists with a custom online application system and marketing efforts for career employment. Responsibilities also include compiling and analyzing data, as well as general human resources support. This position ensures all duties are performed in compliance with complex policies, procedures and laws.

This position provides classification services to divisional managers, performs complex salary calculations and provides technical expertise on pay classifications. Coordinates recruitments for full time, temporary, and fixed-term positions.

This position is privy to confidential records and conversations that directly affect the employer-employee relationship referred to in 111.81(7) Wisconsin Statutes. The incumbent in this role will organize activities, prepare documents, schedule and participate in meetings, collect and direct information for Human Resources that by their sensitive and confidential nature include management activities and decisions that directly affect staff.

The position requires independence of action and decision making authority, initiative, independent judgment, discretion, and an ability to effectively communicate with people in tense situations. The incumbent in this position is expected to exercise a high level of administrative, problem solving and analytic ability as well as solid human resources guidance.

Requirements:

-Previous Human Resources experience is preferred.
-Experience with Full Life Cycle recruitment preferred

-PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP or the ability to obtain in the first year.
