Description

The Department of Human Genetics at UCLA is looking for a project scientist at an assistant rank with experience in molecular genetics and cell biology. The successful applicant will lead current and future research projects related to epigenetics, mouse models, stem cell biology. The applicant will be knowledgeable in molecular cloning and virus packaging, as well as physiology study of mutant mice.

The project scientist will work independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the Principal Investigator and other scientists on and off campus.
Supervises postdoctoral fellows and research technicians.
Performs routine and complex laboratory procedures.
Develops, adapts, and implements new research techniques and protocols.
Participates in publications and presentations as author or co-author.
May apply for research funding awards. Assists in preparation of grant proposals for the Principal Investigator.
Designs and performs experiments.
Keeps appropriate experimental records and documentation and analyzes the results with the Principal Investigator.
Demonstrates aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including details data collection, and analysis and operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.
