Description

UCLA's Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics is seeking to fill an Assistant Researcher position. The Assistant Researcher candidate will perform independent research on tumor immunology and cancer immunotherapy.

The Assistant Researcher will also be responsible for supervising junior members in the lab and coordinating inter-lab collaboration projects. The Assistant Researcher position is a 12 month Non-Senate position.

Start date: September 1, 2019 or as soon as mutually agreeable.

Specific Responsibilities include:

The design and execution of experimental studies on studying tumor immunology and developing new cancer immunotherapies, supervising junior lab members, and leading new research directions and research funding applications. This position requires a Ph.D. in Biology or Biochemistry and a minimum of 10 years research experience in the area of cancer immunology.

Additional Duties:

Oversee technicians, undergraduates, graduate students and postdoctoral trainees in the lab.

Coordinate inter-lab collaboration projects

Ability to work on multiple projects efficiently and effectively.

Ability to work independently on scientific projects.

Preparation of grant proposals.

Preparation of manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.

Required to communicate well with other scientists worldwide.

Candidate should have at least 10 years research experience in immunology.

Candidate should have prior training and direct experience working with tumor immunology and cancer immunotherapy.

Candidate should have extensive experience in recombinant DNA techniques, PCR, cell culturing techniques, flow cytometry, animal research, cancer research, and immunology research.

The candidate will report directly to the Principal Investigator and will successfully carry out experiments and analyze the data generated with minimal to no supervision.

Ability to handle several projects simultaneously.

The candidate will be required to complete all appropriate safety training as mandated by the campus's Environmental Health & Safety Office
