Student contact is extensive and substantive. Staff members work collaboratively within the office and with many other university-wide constituent groups. Staff members are expected to exercise a high degree of responsibility and independent judgment and to work irregular and sometimes long hours.

The Senior Program Coordinator will work with staff in the Center for Student Engagement to advise students and student organizations in programming, organizational and leadership development and will design programs to involve students in campus life and co-curricular learning experiences. This position is responsible for oversight of the Advisory Board for Club Sports, and a subset of club sports and Student Activities Commission (SAC) organizations, and their associated activities, and is responsible for designing and implementing the Blueprint Student Organization Training for student organization officers, among other training initiatives for the department.

Duties of the Senior Program Coordinator include but are not limited to:

Advise Student Organizations
  • Advise and support a broad range of student organizations, including, but not limited to, political and social interest groups, cultural and ethnic-based groups, academic clubs, and social organizations for the purpose of achieving positive, developmental-based outcomes for student leadership and learning.
  • Assist students and student organizations in developing and implementing programs and activities that attract participation, use resources widely, educate community members, and contribute to the vibrancy of campus life; regularly attend student organization events and programs
  • Provide guidance to student leaders on tasks including but not limited to programming, leadership training, organizational development, membership recruitment and retention, budgeting and financial stewardship, and administrative processes.
  • Advise club sports teams in areas related to team development and recruiting, risk management, travel, facilities scheduling, equipment management, and administrative and budget management. Develop and promote risk management practices for club sports teams.

Design and Implement Training Initiatives
  • Coordinate the Blueprint Student Organization Officer Training, including, scheduling of training dates, all associated logistics, facilitation, program assessment, and development of training materials in print and online
  • Coordinate and facilitate training series and organizational development opportunities for student organizations and their officers; including but not limited to, programming, leadership training, organizational development, membership recruitment and retention, budgeting and financial stewardship, and administrative processes, using departmental learning objectives and outcomes.
  • Develop and deliver hazing prevention and awareness initiatives to undergraduate student body and clubs and organizations in conjunction with the Associate Director for Student Engagement.

Supervise Graduate Assistant
  • Provide supervision and support to the Graduate Assistant; hold regular meetings with the Graduate Assistance, provide regular feedback, and conduct bi-annual performance evaluations
  • Recruit, interview, hire, onboard and train Graduate Assistant

Advise Administrative Groups and Programs
  • Advise the Advisory Board for Club Sports with particular attention to the policies and processes they implement for the club sports organizations they oversee, as well as funding allocation, evaluation, policy development, and approval of new club sports teams.

Other Duties as Assigned
  • Participate in departmental, divisional, and university-wide committees, as needed. Assistance with departmental, divisional, and University events, as needed. Additional unforeseen projects related to the Center for Student Engagement's core work.

Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs or related discipline
  • 1-2 years post-Master's experience
  • Experience in leading or advising student organizations, student activities, and event planning
  • Experience in advising students in co-curricular matters to enhance learning and development
