This year we celebrate the Kenan-Flagler Business School’s Centennial year. We opened our doors as the Department of Commerce in 1919 and awarded our first degrees to 12 students in 1921. The Undergraduate Business Program (“UBP”) is the largest academic program within UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School with an enrollment of approximately 1,000 majors and minors. The Undergraduate Business Program Office provides academic and student development services for current and prospective students, as well as faculty and staff. Specific services include: prospective student recruitment and admissions; academic services, including academic advising, course scheduling, and graduation; new student orientation; student life and engagement programs, such as student clubs and organizations, case competitions and other community-building opportunities; study abroad and other global program experiences; and career development programs.

Position Description

The Admissions & Global Application Coordinator provides critical support for the day-to-day operations of the Admissions and Global functions in the Undergraduate Business Program. This operational support role will manage schedules, coordinate access to online application materials for users, collaborate with other Departments on campus, and be proficient at utilizing Slate as an application management tool for both Admissions and Global.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Ability to maintain composure in fast-paced environment and provide flawless service to a variety of stakeholders. Process and detail orientation towards operational effectiveness and efficiency. Must possess a professional demeanor with excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills, and comfort with the use of technology. Capable of documenting and sharing processes. Ability to think critically, analyze data, and summarize findings. Ability to develop and maintain relationships across a range of diverse stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple tasks/priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Highly motivated, demonstrates initiative, positive attitude, and results-driven. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) required, as well as level of comfort using distance technology communication tools (such as Zoom or Skype). Ability to flex work hours to include early morning and evening hours during peak times.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical or operational experience in the field of higher education. Team player attitude. Positive attitude and strong customer focus. Ability to organize and prioritize work. Exceptional interpersonal skills. Experience with student information systems (i.e., PeopleSoft/ConnectCarolina) and/or Slate.

    Location: UNC is located in the heart of Chapel Hill, the best college town in America! It's a friendly town of about 40,000 in the geographical center of North Carolina. Chapel Hill is at the western point of the Research Triangle, an area of about one million people, comprised of Chapel Hill, the cities of Durham and Raleigh, and the Research Triangle Park, home of many corporate offices and scientific research centers. Carolina is about 30 miles from the state capital, Raleigh, and 20 minutes from Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

    Chapel Hill's main street, Franklin Street, borders the campus and offers shops, coffee houses, cafés, movie theaters and houses of worship. The town has a historic district, museum, library, parks, malls, and many recreational facilities.

    Origins of Carolina's students: 82 percent of UNC's freshmen are from North Carolina and 18 percent are from out-of-state. Our students come from 42 different states and our international students represent 37 countries.

    Students may open e-mail accounts, and many use campus computer resources to construct personal Web pages. Students in residence halls have hardwired network connections to the Internet and cable television in their rooms. At the ATN Training center, students may take classes on software packages and utilities. Computer labs are available for student use all over campus.

    Carolina Computing Initiative: Beginning with the freshman class of 2000, undergraduates must purchase laptop computers. The University has arranged for IBM to offer computers at excellent prices.
