The Environment, Ecology, and Energy Program (E3P) in the College of Arts and Sciences is recruiting an outstanding faculty member at the Teaching Assistant Professor rank to expand interdisciplinary programming in the environment. This recruitment strategy will bring innovative approaches to teaching and education and will support the experiential mission of E3P. The new faculty member will join a growing and dynamic program of faculty and students who share a passion for tackling challenges of the natural world and society. Candidates are sought with expertise and interest in quantitative applications of the natural and/or physical sciences. This faculty member will arrive at an exciting time for UNC as we roll out our new general education curriculum, IDEAs in Action. We seek outstanding candidates who show promise in both teaching and advising students. The successful candidate will have a primary appointment in the Environment, Ecology, and Energy Program. The position will be a nine month faculty appointment with an initial appointment of three years and possible extension to five years. Educational Requirements

Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. degree in and demonstrated knowledge of one of the natural sciences, with preference given to engineering, chemistry, physics, mathematics, or marine sciences.

Qualifications and Experience

Teaching experience using active learning, inclusive classroom practices, and science education is especially valued.
