The Division of Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine at the UNC School of Medicine is recruiting for an Interventional Pulmonologist and Director of a Pleural Diseases Center who will be hired at the faculty rank of Assistant Professor on the tenure track. Duties include, but are not limited to, direction of a comprehensive Interventional Pulmonary clinical practice and development of a research center. The position will include inpatient/outpatient clinical duties and teaching responsibilities in interventional pulmonary medicine and procedures. The individual will serve as Program Director for the Interventional Pulmonary Fellowship Training Program.
The position will require development of a research center focused on translational and clinical investigations relating to pleural diseases and chest malignancies. Collaboration with translational researchers in the field of lung cancer and inflammation is expected.Educational Requirements
Applicants must hold an MD or DO degree and be BC/BE in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, Critical Care Medicine and Interventional Pulmonology.Qualifications and Experience
Candidates will have completed a minimum of one year of interventional pulmonary fellowship training. Candidates should have experience performing advanced diagnostic and rigid bronchoscopy, navigational bronchoscopy, bedside tracheostomy, thoracic ultrasound, thoracentesis, chest tube placement, tunneled pleural catheter placement and management of complex pleural processes. Experience in medical thoracoscopy and PEG tube placement is preferred as well. In addition, candidates should have training and experience in clinical or translational research including a record of publication. Leadership experience is desired.Equal Opportunity Employer
