Position Summary

Provides support to faculty course directors for MSUCOM Pre-Clerkship medical students in the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine professional program; works closely with course directors, other on-and-off-campus faculty, and course assistants at the remote sites in South East Michigan, Detroit Medical Center and Macomb University Center to plan, develop, coordinate, implement, and oversee to completion a multitude of various tasks required to deliver the course curriculum; acts as liaison between course directors, students, administrators and various departments on campus; schedules and attends planning and debriefing meetings; plans student’s weekly course and exam schedules; reserves and sets up classrooms and laboratories; will proctor and assure security of exams; develops, revises, and maintains educational materials such as course protocols, coursepacks, exam questions, and test results; enters final grades; computerizes and imports data files to produce reports; incorporates educational techniques such as audiovisual and software presentations; assists in the day-to-day operations of the Pre-Clerkship unit and completes special projects as assigned. duties associated with this position involve pushing/pulling mail cart.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Health Education or a related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience and knowledge of curriculum in the area of employment; word processing, database, spreadsheet and presentation software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Exceptional organizational skills, project planning, and independent management skills, very detail-oriented; a confident self –starter who has excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; enjoys working in cooperation with other team members as well as with various faculty members and students; ability to multi-task in a fast –paced environment with many interruptions while still meeting deadlines and producing quality products and service; advanced knowledge and comfort level with various computer programs; working knowledge and experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, electronic e-mail and calendaring systems; experience or ability to learn D2L, Instructor Systems, Students Information System (SIS), CLIFMS, Adobe, Breeze/Camtasia, Dreamweaver, and Media Site Live, as well as various COM-specific database programs to work with confidential grades and course evaluation systems; working knowledge of and experience with medical terminology; knowledge of or ability to learn MSU academic policies, accounting procedures and forms, and hiring and paying procedures using the MSU EBS system.
