Position Summary

The recruiter is responsible for the life-cycle recruitment process: recruiting, screening and recommending placement of employees by using creative sources methods (internal and external). The recruiter partners with hiring managers to understand their business and designs and implements effective recruitment plans (e.g. staff or students). Primary responsibilities will be focused on staff and student employment. Active collaboration will exist when appropriate to support Academic Affairs with faculty recruitment.

Essential Functions

•Partners with hiring manager to determine staffing needs.
•Serves as an expert for recruiting candidates within the assigned area.
•Candidate Screening: responsible for screening resumes to determine which candidates meet the minimum requirements. Recruiters then move chosen candidates on to the next step in the hiring process.
•Interviewing: recruiters are responsible for conducting initial interviews, used to narrow the number of potential candidates who will be interviewed by the hiring manager.
•Sets up interview appointments between the chosen candidates and the hiring manager.
•Uses traditional and nontraditional resources, such as career fairs, online job fairs, community network events, etc., to identify and attract quality candidates.
•Develops advertising programs (internal and external) to ensure high visibility with potential candidates.
•Develops and maintains an excellent relationship with internal and external clients to ensure achievement of staffing goals.
Communicates important employment information during delivery of employment offers (e.g., benefits, compensation, CTO, etc).
•Works with hiring managers to ensure compliance with all federal/state laws and regulations, including affirmative action plan compliance.

General Responsibilities

•Administers appropriate assessments and reference/background checking, makes recommendations for hire (or not hire) and delivers employment offers for both exempt and nonexempt position openings within an assigned area.
•Manages internal transfer process, including screening, coordination of interviews with hiring manager, transfer offer letters, etc.
•Communicates important employment information during delivery of employment offers (e.g., benefits, compensation, CTO, etc).
•Maintains memberships and affiliations with trade/professional organizations related to industry.

Qualifications

Education

•Bachelor’s degree preferably in Human Resources, office management or related field.
•aPHR, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is essential. Consultation and relationship management experience needed.
•Must have ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
•Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion. Able to project a warm, welcoming, and competent image to customers.
•Willingness and ability to adapt to changing technologies and systems.

Experience

•3 years current human resources experience (with demonstrated solid experience and knowledge in recruitment)
•Knowledge of other human resources disciplines including, compensation, benefits, HRIS, employee/labor relations, training and organization development) is preferred.
•Experience with full scope staffing including knowledge of sourcing efficiencies, candidate assessment techniques and job offer negotiation skills is required.
•Proficiency with social recruiting techniques (via LinkedIn, Facebook, Internet mining (Google), Twitter, etc.) is a must.
•Previous experience in Higher Education helpful.
