Supervision Received: Reports to the Associate Director of Admission.

Supervision Exercised: None

Salary: $48,000.00-$53,000.00. Salary will commence with experience.

General Statement of Duties:
The Assistant Director works directly with the Associate Director of Admission to oversee daily operations of transfer recruitment and admission. S/he works closely with the associate director in planning, implementing, managing, and coordinating policies and procedures related to transfer admission and recruitment.


Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but not limited to:
Essential:

  • Assist with the planning, designing, and development of the department's annual recruitment plan.
  • Responsible for implementing specific recruitment strategies as assigned.
  • Assist the Associate Director of Admission with the daily oversight of the transfer file review process and make recommendations to benefit the process to the Director of Admission.
  • Work directly with the Associate Director of Admission to develop admission standards for transfer applicants contingent on the target set for the fall and spring term by the Vice President of Enrollment Management.
  • Provide accurate information pertaining to the enrollment process, including college programs and services, enrollment procedures, admissions criteria, and specific curriculum requirements to prospective students, college advisors, school counselors and other related individuals or groups.
  • Assist the Associate Director of Admission with transfer advisor outreach and education.
  • Serve as a campus liaison for the MassTransfer program, as the campus representative to the Mass Transfer Steering Committee.
  • Maintain a caseload of transfer admission files for MassTransfer applicants to verify program eligibility requirements and award program benefits.
  • Assist the Associate Director with renew-ability of merit scholarships, MA transfer waiver, and Commonwealth Commitment Benefits.
  • Serve as the recruiter for transfer travel.
  • Enter prospect data from inquiry cards upon return from recruitment events.
  • Participate in on-campus admission campus visitation events such as Open Houses, Accepted Student Days, and any other related first-year and/or transfer events as needed or assigned.
  • Review and evaluate transfer admission application files as assigned, and determine admissibility per college admission standards.
  • Review and award credit for all dual enrollment coursework.
  • Work with the Associate Director of Admission to ensure data integrity for institutional reporting.
  • Assist the Associate Director of Admission in compiling end-of-year admission statistics.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with community college advisors and high school counselors.
  • Assist with follow-up activities including telephone calls, specialized mailings, CRM, e-mail, and meetings with prospective students as needed.
  • Work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Admission.

Non-Essential:

  • Review and recommend transfer changes to the Associate Director of Admission.
  • Participate in educational and professional development activities.
  • Assist the Associate Director of Admission with admission counselor training manual updates.
  • Participate in educational and professional development activities.








Requirements:
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
  • At least two (2) years of experience within the area of admissions is required (transfer admissions preferred).
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Familiarity with Banner and Ellucian Recruit CRM preferred.
  • Must be well organized and have the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Knowledge of higher education principles, practices and procedures.
  • Admission experience and knowledge of Westfield State University preferred.
