General Description

Delaware County Community College is seeking a part-time Wellness Coordinator in our Athletics department.

The Wellness Coordinator, under the direction of the Director of Wellness, Athletics & Recreation, promotes health and wellness to faculty, staff and students at all College campuses, by developing, implementing and assessing college-wide wellbeing initiatives to improve the wellbeing of the college and increase student's personal and academic success.

Duties

Primary responsibilities include but not limited to: -

  • Provide health/wellness information through workshops, class visits, speakers, pamphlets, bulletin boards and online resources
  • Provide health/wellness programming at all campuses (about once per month)
  • Analyze student health & wellness data to develop a strategic wellness program plan with the assistance of campus stakeholders
  • Identify community resources and engage agencies/institutions to develop and conduct health programs, screenings or other health services on campus
  • Promote student success by supporting academic and student affairs areas in enhancing attention to health and wellness issues
  • Provide referrals to health services, clinics or primary care providers
  • Provides information about short-term medical insurance
  • Coordinate special health and wellness training programs as needed
  • Coordinate Red Cross Blood Drives at the Marple Campus
  • Coordinate the annual Health Fair at the Marple Campus and a similar program at the branch campuses
  • Manage Wellness Center social media accounts to increase awareness of programs and services as well as educate on health and wellness topics
  • Serve as a health & wellness point person on College committees and special projects
  • Participate in community coalitions and task forces to build relationships with community organizations and identify opportunities for partnerships, when scheduling permits
  • Assist the Director of Wellness, Athletics and Recreation in scheduling athletic trainers for home sporting events and verifing that all trainers have the required certifications
  • Assist with Fitness Center Duties; included but not limited to overseeing classes, monitoring use, monitoring staff
  • Coordinate arrangements for temporary medical parking permits for students
  • Serve as an ex-officio member of the Environmental, Health & Safety committee
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate must have: -

  • Associates degree in the health science area (e.g. Allied Health, Nursing, Health Care Management, Exercise Science, Nutrition, Public Health, etc) or other closely related field
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings
  • Ability to cultivate relationships
  • Ability to travel to branch campuses across Delaware and Chester counties
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in program development, implementation and assessment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in the health science area (e.g. Allied Health, Nursing, Health Care Management, Exercise Science, Nutrition, Public Health, etc) or other closely related field
  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) certification
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Personal Training or Group Exercise Certification

Pennsylvania Act 153 Clearances
Applicants are required to either present to human resources current and valid PA Act 153 clearances or be able to obtain them expediently.
