Job PostingThe University of Connecticut is seeking an enthusiastic individual to fill a full-time position as a Senior Oracle Developer – PeopleSoft Specialist in the Information Technology Services division. Under the general direction of Enterprise Applications Management, the Senior Oracle Developer – PeopleSoft Specialist will primarily be responsible for developing custom applications to support PeopleSoft HCM 9.1, CS 9.0 enterprise applications.

The successful candidate will serve as a PeopleSoft subject matter expert providing analysis, design, development, and production services for the delivered PeopleSoft application as well as supporting customizations and extensions that modify UConn’s PeopleSoft application

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Provides analysis, design, development, and production services for the delivered PeopleSoft application.Recommends and then creates customized software and solution models within the PeopleSoft application and extensions, and integrates the customizations into the existing PeopleSoft application. Provides technical leadership in analyzing, designing and implementing special programming projects within the PeopleSoft application, as assigned. Prescribes standards for the feature being implemented. Works in conjunction with end users to gather business requirements and identify the core functionality that users need in the PeopleSoft application. Works continually with end users to refine solution models. Responsible for making independent decisions and judgments on technical issues.Provides technical solutions to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, extent of automatic programming and coding use and modification and inclusion of internal checks and controls.Evaluates and develops complex web application approaches in support of the University processes within the PeopleSoft application. Assists with analysis, implementation and modification of data warehouse structures and systems to support the PeopleSoft application. Creates project plans and task flows, including schedules for project implementation, for staff in database administration and server support to implement PeopleSoft application solutions, integrations, customizations, upgrades and new delivered features for the application, and maintenance of the application.Devises a comprehensive testing plan for testing application upgrades, integrations and customizations, using actual or sample input data, to verify proper program performance and efficiency of operation. Performs testing and validation of customizations, integrations and upgrades.Serves as technical project leader as assigned to develop sequence of project steps, and oversees the tasks assigned to other programmer/analysts assigned to work on project.Rewrites application functionality with newer technology to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements. Determines and integrates user requirements that are unrelated to the functions of the application itself, including required security levels and performance needs.As part of the analysis and development of integrations, customizations and upgrades, ensures minimum risk to services or systems due to errors or interruptions in performance.Stores, retrieves, and manipulates data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements.Maintains in-depth knowledge of frequently changing technologies. Makes recommendations for advancing technologies at the University.Conducts research through traditional and online libraries, application manuals and technical listservs for possible solutions to assigned problems within the PeopleSoft application and integrated tools.Documents the technical specifications for areas requiring coding, including subsequent revisions. Converts these statements to detailed logical flow charts or narrative of specifications for coding into computer language.Provides complex problem solving and analytical skills to assist team members and end users in the technical solutions for application customization and integration.Assists, advises and guides junior-level programmers as a PeopleSoft subject matter expert. Provides leadership for recommended use of delivered tools for the PeopleSoft application. Develops necessary technical documentation and operating instructions for user departments, including descriptions of input, output, and arithmetic and logical operations involved. Creates schedule of training for users.Develops training materials and trains function team members and the technical teams on specialized areas. Provides training to others on the team on new tools and features. Promotes technical knowledge transfer.Prepares weekly status report of currents assignments, projects and timelines. Communicates effectively with PeopleSoft users, vendors, administration, and staff.Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technologies or related field; or equivalent combination of education and training.Five to Ten years Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation experience preferably in PeopleSoft.Experience with requirements gathering, analysis and testing.Experience using the PeopleSoft Integration Broker tools, PeopleSoft Peoplecode, PeopleSoft Component Interface, PeopleSoft Application Engine andPeopleSoft Application Packages.Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and problem solving skills.Ability to organize and prioritize workloads.Experience leading technical teams.Experience writing and executing SQL statements.Experience with Java programming language.Hands on experience in object oriented programming.The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.Excellent verbal and written skills along with the ability to follow directions and attend to details.Experience using Web ServicesUnderstanding of the software development lifecycle.Ability to work under pressure.
