To promote the learning community at the Highland (HLC) ACCelerator by providing one-on-one support & study skills assistance for students District-wide.Description of Duties and TasksEssential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • May work in a specialty area within a department or office.
  • May coordinate, evaluate, develop, and implement specialized materials to support departmental programs.
  • May provide training or support training programs.
  • Assists with general reporting and maintenance of databases as required.
  • May provide information to others regarding processes, programs, and/or procedures.
  • May review and process documents, maintain databases, and provide reports.
  • Additional Job Specific Duties

    1. Provides proactive outreach and academic coaching for students; assists with student support activities.
    2. Provides information to students in one-on-one and group sessions on various aspects of college success such as: time management, goal setting, exam preparation, and overcoming academic anxiety.
    3. Refers students to appropriate resources (i.e.- tutoring, advising, counseling, Student Life, Library Services, etc.)
    4. Facilitates student learning strategies in traditional and online courses.
    5. Documents students interactions in appropriate college systems in an accurate and timely manner.
    6. May provide reports and other analytics regarding student interactions including attendance, academic progress, interventions, etc..
    7. May monitor student progress and assist in the development of ways to engage students more fully in the learning process.KnowledgeMust possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

  • Physical Requirements

    Work is performed in a standard office environment. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Occasional lifting of objects up to 30 pounds.Safety

    ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty Only). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by Federal law.
