This position is in the Management Personnel Plan (Administrator I) and earns management benefits including medical, dental, vision, $100,000 life insurance plan, and the CalPERS pension plan. For more information on benefits included for this position, please see the benefits summary.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible, at will position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but may vary based on operational needs.

The Assistant Director will manage the annual fund operations that include the call center operations, direct mailing, and e-solicitation to achieve the philanthropic goals of this program. Additionally, this position will work with the team on crowdfunding and text-to-mobile campaigns. Further, this position will work with the team to achieve the annual Day-of-Giving campaign. This position will oversee a team of 8-10 engagement officers that will focus on calling the Aztec Parents Program, special projects for URAD and helping with SDSU Alumni events and programs.

Starting salary upon appointment is commensurate with experience and education. CSU Classification Salary Range: $2,502 - $9,083 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-3 years of fundraising/philanthropy experience.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills

  • Business degree preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, oral/written communication skills (including editing and proofreading).
  • 2 years of progressively responsible marketing experience.
  • Experience producing high-level marketing collateral.
  • Experience in planning events.
  • Adobe InDesign experience.
  • Adobe Photoshop experience.
  • Higher education development experience, specifically annual giving.
  • Experience with automated telemarketing software.
  • Experience with Advance development software.
  • Experience with data analytics and consumer behavior.
  • Experience working with external vendors and contracts.
  • Experience importing/exporting data from multiple operating systems (such as bio data bases, event management systems, etc.).
  • Experience with e-commerce online forms and accounts; extracting e-commerce information and reconciling registrations and donations.
  • Experience building queries for electronic distribution.
  • Experience creating tiered and customized donations and payments for registrations and online giving.
  • Experience in defining populations and working with systems support to manipulate prospect populations.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships between departments, colleagues and committee members.
  • Experience supervising students and/or student employees.
