Job Description Summary:

This position has the primary responsibility for leading and directing graduate student recruitment and admissions counseling. The incumbent is expected to develop data-informed recruitment plans to meet quantity and quality goals, monitor the daily work of the staff, and assess the efficacy of all recruitment practices. The director will be a communicator, a collaborator, and an innovator in the field of graduate admissions.

Specific Duties:
  • Directs and leads overarching office supervision of the recruitment division as part of the Admissions Leadership Team. Additionally, oversees strategic enrollment and recruitment projects in the office. This includes outreach efforts, communication development and execution, ownership of key initiatives in the CRM system, recruiting policy and procedures. Understands and values the recruitment of underrepresented student populations and working in a diverse context.
  • Directs and leads the admissions/recruitment division including hiring, training, coaching, and providing professional development direction for graduate admission staff. Lead the staff in admission standards and practices. Represent the university to large audiences and make informal and creative presentations to encourage enrollment. Work with Graduate Chairs regarding admission policy/standards, troubleshooting, general communication and reporting to ensure a smooth process for all applicants.
  • Establishes an annual work plan with measureable outcomes and assessment methods; reports statistical and qualitative information/analysis; develops and administers an operating budget; provides for fiscal accountability and effective fund management to ensure the effective utilization of funds for priority operations; and prepares and presents operating and summary reports, assessments and audit reports. Perform data searches about individual applicants and generate reports in databases so that data-driven decisions can be made regarding recruitment.
  • Recruit students to the campus for graduate degree programs. This includes visiting venues where prospective students are located. Evaluate admission applicants to the university and make appropriate representation to the Graduate Chairs for admission. This includes calculating GPAs, reviewing essays and recommendations, following up on applications and providing accurate information to the student as well as positive interactions on multiple media sources
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • 6 years of College/university admissions office experience
  • Understanding of admission process and best practices
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusivity
  • Supervisory experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate and adult student admissions experience
  • Experience creating recruitment plans
  • Proven ability to meet recruitment goals
