Position Summary
The University of St. Francis, a Catholic, Franciscan institution in Albuquerque, NM, invites applications to a full-time position in the Physician Assistant Studies Program (PA).
This is a full-time position with a competitive compensation and benefit package, and is available beginning 09/01/2019.
A review of applications begins immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Coordinate and instruct in assigned didactic courses as a core faculty member.
• Assist with ongoing development and improvement of the program’s curriculum.
• Provide guidance, direction and feedback to clinical learning preceptors to help them improve clinical rotations.
• Counsel, advise and assign students to clinical rotations.
• Develop, visit and evaluate potential clinical sites and clinical faculty.
• Visit and evaluate students at clinical sites.
• Coordinate the design and revision of the Clinical Student Manual and Clinical Preceptor Manual outlining program and University policies, procedures and expectations.
• Advise assigned students and reports on each student’s academic progress.
• Participate in all departmental meetings.
• Serve as an active member of the program’s admission, academic progression and accreditation committees.
• Participate in generating and updating examinations/testing modalities for all phases of the program; assist in ongoing development of the test bank.
• Assist with preparation of reports and self-studies related to funding and accreditation.
• Participate in activities characteristic of USF faculty members, including teaching, faculty development, University and community service, and scholarly activities.
• Maintain current NCCPA certification, membership in AAPA and NMAPA, and New Mexico licensure (or has licensure pending).
• Such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the program director.
Minimum Requirements
• Experienced professional with excellent communication skills who is eager to work with a dynamic and highly organized, committed team.
• Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or M.D./D.O.
• Experience in medical education
• Two years of clinical experience as physician assistant or medical doctor
• Current license through New Mexico Medical Board, or application in progress, current NCCPA certification
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Access
• Demonstrated communication skills and ability to relate to the general public, students, and faculty in a tactful, collegial and courteous manner.
• Willingness to support the Catholic and Franciscan values of the university.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position.
Preferred Requirements
• Graduate degree in Medical, Health Science, Public Health and/or Health Education
• Experience working in a medical academic institution
• Five years of clinical experience as a physician assistant or medical doctor
Hours/Shift/Work Schedule
This is a full-time, year-round position. We offer a competitive compensation and benefit package.
Physical Requirements of Position
Work is performed in office and classroom settings with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This is sedentary work that requires the ability to work at our Albuquerque campus and travel to clinic sites, communicate effectively with students, faculty and clinic staff, and lifting up to 25 pounds with or without assistance.
