The Hoover Institution at Stanford University is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Publications Program Assistant position for the Hoover Press.
About Stanford University's Hoover Institution: The Hoover Institution on War, Revolution, and Peace is a public policy research center devoted to the advanced study of economics, politics, history, and political economy—both domestic and foreign—as well as international affairs.
Founded in 1919 by Herbert Hoover before he became the thirty-first president of the United States, the Institution began as a repository of historical material gathered at the end of World War I. The library and archives have grown to be among the largest private repositories of documents on twentieth-century political and economic history. Over time the Institution expanded its mission from collecting archival material to conducting advanced research on contemporary history and economics and applying this scholarship to current public policy challenges.
With its eminent scholars and world-renowned library and archives, the Hoover Institution seeks to improve the human condition by advancing ideas that promote economic opportunity and prosperity while securing and safeguarding peace for America and all humanity.
JOB PURPOSE:
Under general supervision, assist with the execution of a program or a product created by the organization. Act as primary liaison between the Press and its distribution partners to promote and disseminate Hoover publications. Manage vendor relations, including marketing plans and payment details.
CORE DUTIES:
- Understand and communicate the features, benefits, and advantages of the product/program to a target audience.
- Gather, analyze and report on product/program data such as generating sales reports, submitting data to appropriate agencies and parties, and maintaining royalty records.
- Execute a tactical plan to meet the product/program objectives including plans for exhibitions, maintaining eProduct lines, submitting Cataloging-in-Publication data to Library of Congress and Copyright Office, and determining product print quantities.
- Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of product/program elements, such as vendor payments, product launch, and equipment maintenance.
- Provide administrative support to Product/Program team.
- Track product/program progress against goals and schedule (e.g., products and reprint schedules.)
- Assist in the development of materials which support the product/program.
ADDITIONAL CORE DUTIES*:
- Investigate strategic partnerships to strengthen sales and distribution channels.
- Assist with the management of Press archives; assist with publication agreements, including subsidiary rights.
* Other duties may also be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience. Two years of experience preferred.
