Departmental Overview
The Social Sciences Division (SSD) includes the Anthropology, Business, Environmental Design and Social Research Libraries and extensive collections in Doe Library. The SSD supports research and teaching in all social sciences at Berkeley.

Responsibilities
The Student Supervisor, for the Business Library and Social Research Library, ensures a high level of service to students, faculty, staff and general public, helping patrons find the information and resources they need. Manages the hiring, training and scheduling of student library employees and serves as a Social Sciences Division-wide resource in training student employees to provide assistance with basic informational requests, and supporting research productivity tools and Library-provided statistical software. The Student Supervisor may assist in creating webpages, blog posts and flyers.

Required Qualifications
  • Effective supervisory skills.
  • Experience with general office software, including spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Basic familiarity with statistical software.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Experience providing customer service.

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a library.
  • Experience supervising student workers.
  • Experience in creating and editing web pages, blogging software, flyers, etc.
  • Experience with data visualization software.
  • Experience monitoring and understanding budgets.

    Salary & Benefits
    The annual salary range of the position is $41,200.00 - $62,800.00, commensurate with experience.
