Assistant Director, Student Transition and Family Programs
The Office of Student Transition and Family Programs at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for the Assistant Director (full-time, 12 month) position. This position supports the mission of the office by overseeing the recruitment, selection, and training of the student orientation staff, providing management of office communications to new students and families, coordinating and executing First Class and other transition programs, and supervising a Graduate Assistant. This position also serves as back-up to the office manager and assists the director in assessment and process improvement.
Required Education: Master’s degree in student affairs, student personnel, counseling, higher education, or other related field of study.
Required Qualifications: Some related experience in student orientation, student transition and/or family programs design, development and/or execution. Working knowledge of new student and family programs. Working knowledge of student and family transitional issues. Working knowledge of assessment and program evaluation practices. Working knowledge of student leadership and training development. Working knowledge of mentoring and advising of student leaders. Excellent event planning and project management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to think critically and solve problems. Ability to effectively supervise student staff. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
