The Department of Political Science at the University of Redlands welcomes applications for a tenure-track position in American Politics with a focus on Race and Ethnic Politics and Policy. The department encourages applicants from historically under-represented groups and those interested in making contributions to the University’s Public Policy and other interdisciplinary programs. Excellence in teaching and dedication to mentoring our diverse undergraduate student population are essential qualifications for this position, and applicants are required to submit evidence of their strengths and experience in these areas.

The standard six-course load for the position will be distributed across fall and spring semesters and May Term according to the candidate’s interests and departmental needs. Primary teaching responsibilities for our undergraduate program include Introduction to American Politics, and courses in race and ethnic politics. The ability to teach Introduction to Public Policy is preferred. Candidates may also offer courses that support various interdisciplinary programs at the university. We welcome teacher-scholars interested in policy areas such as welfare, housing, civil rights, immigration, and urban and regional policy.

POSITION CRITERIA: A Ph.D. in Political Science by September 2020 is preferred. Evidence of success at college teaching and an ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment are preferred.
