Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for Instructor of Homeland Security and Emergency Management in the Department of Political Science and Public Affairs of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS); this appointment will begin fall 2019. The Department welcomes applications from individuals who are prepared to teach core courses and electives. The normal teaching load is 12 hours per semester with advising and community service responsibilities. Employees may be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Competitive candidates will be student-centered, effective teachers who will also be expected to engage in research, academic advising, and community service. Familiarity with SACSOC accreditation standards and program assessment is needed. Minimum QualificationsA Ph.D. in Public Administration, Public Affairs, or Public Policy with a concentration in Homeland Security and Emergency Management is required; ABDs will be considered, but the Ph.D. must be completed by the anniversary of the hire date. Demonstrated engagement with local, regional, national, and/or international HSM organizations preferred but not required. Experience teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate level in emergency management and homeland security is preferred.
