Minimum qualifications are a Master’s or clinical degree in Disaster Management (DMAN), Public Health, Homeland Security or related field, or a clinical degree such as R.N., Paramedic, P.A., N.P., or M.D., or other emergency response discipline.

Position Summary

The Disaster Management Instructor will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Disaster Management, and participate in curricular development and student advising functions of the Institute for Disaster Management.

Additional Requirements

Candidates with a clinical degree may require approval for a degree exception before hire and should document exceptional accomplishments in disaster management or a related area. The candidate is expected to have at least 2 years teaching experience, as demonstrated by teaching in emergency training such as (but not necessarily limited to) Basic and Advanced Disaster Life Support instruction, emergency medical instruction, emergency management, and public safety.

The ability to teach some or all of the following courses is preferred: Disasters & Society, Disaster Policy, International Aspects of Disasters, Disasters, Media & Pop Culture, Introduction to Disaster Management, Disaster Management for Health Professionals, Public Health Crises and Disaster Management, Understanding Terrorism & Homeland Security.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in disaster management (DMAN) and contribute to the DMAN graduate program in IDM, including course development and modification.
