The AmeriCorps State program is a federally-funded grant providing U.S. citizens with the opportunity to serve in their own country. The Georgia 4-H AmeriCorps State member provides 4-H programming directly to youth under the direction of the County Extension Agent. Supervision is also provided by the AmeriCorps State Program Coordinator. This includes planning, implementation, and delivery of programming including in-school and after school club meetings, camp, and other 4-H programming delivered in the county as well as volunteer recruitment and transportation of youth. The member will also assist the AmeriCorps State Program Coordinator in collecting required impact data by administering surveys to youth and entering data into provided spreadsheets. Members must comply with AmeriCorps requirements such as monthly reporting, monthly webinars, and other required trainings.
This posting is for a full-time member serving 12 months for the period of September 1, 2019 – August 31, 2020. Members are required to log a total of 1,700 hours, averaging 35-40 hours/week.

This position is available September 1, 2019 – August 31, 2020. If additional funding becomes available, members may have the option to re-enroll for additional years of service if they meet the service hour requirement (1,700 hours) and perform satisfactorily.
Federal regulations require a High School diploma or equivalent to apply. Additional education and experience is preferred but not required. The position requires a one-year commitment. This is a temporary, service position, not a traditional employment position.

Benefits provided to full-time members include: modest monthly living allowance ($1,166/month), health insurance, daycare assistance (if income-eligible), loan forbearance, and a Segal Education Award equivalent to the Pell Grant that may be used to pay educational costs at eligible post-secondary educational institutions as well as to repay qualified student loans. In order to qualify for the Segal Education Award of $6,095 the member must successfully log 1,700 service hours by August 31, 2020. In order to serve in this position, applicants must be prepared to provide copies of the following documents: Proof of Citizenship (birth certificate or valid Passport), Social Security Card, Government Issued ID, Federal and State Tax Forms, High School Diploma or equivalent. Members must submit to a complete criminal history background check, including a finger-print based FBI check. Individuals convicted of murder or those on the sex offender registry, or required to be on the sex offender registry are not eligible. The member must comply with the AmeriCorps Member Agreement (provided prior to service). You must possess a valid driver’s license to be considered for this position.
High School diploma or equivalent required. Experience in program planning, delivery of youth development programs, and a basic knowledge of 4-H is preferred. Applicants should be service-minded.

The successful candidate must exhibit qualities of independent judgment and a passion for service as well as the ability to perform the tasks necessary in planning, developing, and directing educational programs directed at youth. Experience working with youth is a plus.Physical Demands
