Position Summary

Reporting to the AVP for Advancement Operations, the Associate Director, Advancement Information Services provides leadership in the development of short and long-term plans to lead the implementation of advancement software, training new staff on software, and documenting processes.

This position oversees and implements all project plans associated with advancement software development, replacement, conversion, and integration within the Advancement framework at Middlebury.

Responsibilities

  • The Associate Director drives the technology planning process, ensuring that optimal results for all parties will be achieved. The incumbent designs and implements new business processes and identifies potential resource requirements.
  • The Associate Director works collaboratively with the AVP for Advancement Operations and other team members to identify technology solutions while ensuring user needs are addressed comprehensively and effectively. The incumbent will then coordinate and integrate these plans with other campus technology solutions.
  • Project direction for all advancement software acquisition, development, replacement, conversion, implementation, activation of new functionality, and upgrades.
  • Proposes, tests and implements business processes driven by fundraising and engagement initiatives.
  • Sets project timelines and directs project staff.
  • Provides direction about best practice business processes and proposes changes to business practices.
  • Serving as the Advancement Office MDRP, the Associate Director creates, implements, and maintains security policies.
  • Works with all units in Advancement to ensure integrity in data input.
  • Explores emerging technologies to best meet Advancement engagement and fundraising goals in connection with the overall strategy for aligning Middlebury wide objectives, and oversees the planning, assigning and monitoring of the completion of implementation of said technology.
  • Continuously monitors and troubleshoots alerts for critical Advancement systems, including Blackbuad, Banner, Content 7, BlueFin, Cybersource, Net Community, iModules, and independently escalates to the appropriate parties for resolution.
  • Responsible for testing critical Advancement systems after maintenance and upgrades.
General Responsibilities
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with others and accept direction from supervisors.
  • Run various Hyperion reports as necessary
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s Degree required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong project management and communication skills required.
  • Must have ability to adapt to various computer information systems and changing technology.
  • Must handle confidential information in a discreet manner.
    Demonstrated success in software conversion and implementation project management.
  • Strong financial management, strategic planning, and budgeting experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Blackbaud and/or relational databases, payment processing systems, and PCI/DS Standards and requirements.
Experience

8 years of higher education industry experience or functional experience in computer information systems required.
