Mathematics instructors teach in a variety of programs that include college and pre-college level math. This position will be part of a team of faculty responsible for the continued development of college (e.g. Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Adv. Calculus and Statistics) and pre-college (e.g. developmental education, High School 21+, BEdA, etc.) curricula and instruction that supports transition to college level coursework. Courses will be delivered using a variety of modalities: hybrid, online, traditional face-to-face, and I-BEST. Working with a cross-departmental and cross-functional team, the instructor will advise and mentor students, participate in curriculum and program development and assessment, participate in professional and community service activities, participate in college activities, as well as attend faculty and committee meetings and perform other duties as assigned. Teaching assignments may include early morning or late afternoon/evening classes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Responsibilities for this position include the following:
•Teaching assigned classes to a diverse student body in a variety of formats including face-to-face, online and hybrid
•Developing curriculum
•Preparing syllabi and teaching materials
•Developing and assessing student learning outcomes related to specific course descriptions
•Maintaining required records
•Advising/consulting with students to support their success
•Teach productive and constructive study skills
•Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments to instruction
•Create and maintain an environment of rapport and respect
•Support college efforts to assist students and increase completion through campus-wide frameworks such as Guided Pathways

The college seeks faculty who will take a leadership role in their departments and the college, will adapt to a variety of teaching situations, can use technology to teach effectively, and will work effectively with students, staff, and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and student success.

This is a full-time temporary position that reports to the Dean of Arts & Sciences

Required Qualifications

•Master’s degree in mathematics or closely related field from an accredited college or university
•Two years teaching experience at the college level

Preferred Qualifications

•Ability to adapt teaching to various student learning styles
•Demonstrated ability to serve the needs of students who represent a broad spectrum of ages, abilities, ethnicity, education and cultural backgrounds.
•Awareness of own cultural values and biases.
•Demonstrated ability to collaborate with peers.
•Experience advising students.
•Demonstrated ability to participate in professional and community service activities.

EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time, three quarter (fall, winter, and spring) temporary faculty appointment with employment expected to begin starting September 3, 2019 and is subject to legislative funding. Placement on the established faculty salary schedule is dependent upon education and teaching experience. The State of Washington provides a comprehensive benefits package for all state employees.

Centralia College faculty are represented by the Centralia College Federation of Teachers, Local No. 4469, AFT/AAFL-CIO and, in accordance with the faculty agreement, “All full-time faculty members, as a condition of continued employment on or after the thirtieth day following the beginning of such employment, shall become members of the Federation OR pay a representation fee to the Federation.”

DEADLINE
