Requisition Number:19374Location: Boulder, Colorado Employment Type:Research FacultySchedule:Full-Time Close All Job SummaryThe Fiber Sources and Applications Group in the Applied Physics Division at NIST seeks a researcher to research and develop frequency-comb-based methods for optical time-frequency transfer across a distributed free-space network.Who We AreThe Professional Research Experience Program (PREP) is a special partnership between the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the University of Colorado Boulder. PREP provides research opportunities to CU undergraduate and graduate students, as well as researchers with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in NIST labs to gain research experience alongside NIST scientists.What Your Key Responsibilities Will BeThe work will focus on extending the range of current systems by developing new protocols and applying the developed techniques to comparisons of atomic optical clocks.What We Can OfferThe annual salary range for this position is market-based, highly competitive, and will be based upon relevant background and experience. - Experience with optical frequency combs.
- Experience with the phase locking of electro-optical systems.
- Experience with transmission of laser signals through turbulent air.
- Experience with time and frequency-based analysis.
- Experience with operation of comb-based optical two-way time-frequency transfer.
- Experience specifically with fiber optic based measurement systems.
