Job Description:

The Campus Life Coordinator is responsible for coordinating activities on the Washington DC campus of TCSPP. This position maintains collaborative working relationships with campus leadership, faculty, and other student-facing departments to support and coordinate campus facilities, programs, services, and activities consistent with the university’s mission, strategic goals, and regulatory requirements.

Principle Duties:

  • Assist in the planning, management, and direction of all orientation week activities, collaborating with academic departments, coordinating check-in, and coordinating student and staff volunteers
  • Pre-orientation communications, including online Early Connect course enrollment and content, roommate finder survey, and other content, such as emails or videos
  • Assist in the planning, management, and direction of all commencement activities, including recruiting volunteer teams, communicating with students and faculty, working with venues and vendors, and ordering regalia
  • Oversee Student Council and other student groups by managing annual group registration, serving as Student Council advisor, providing appropriate training to student leaders, and supporting event planning and assessment processes
  • Co-Administer the WMATA U-Pass transit benefit
  • Assist with planning and preparation of the campus facility schedule including class schedule and campus events.  Oversight for complex scheduling and calendar management for campus.
  • Assist with campus health and safety procedures, and serve as a member of the campus emergency response team
  • Maintain general reception/waiting areas and open offices/classrooms space to ensure it is presentable and professional in appearance. 
  • Format and process complex documents, reports and contracts including text, tables, spreadsheets, graphics and other diverse content.
  • Participate in the weekend staffing rotation
  • Provide wide ranging administrative support to include supplies order, invoice/expense processing, reconciliation of purchase cards and necessary communications internally and externally.
  • Proofread reports, records and other data for accuracy.
  • Support member of the office and backup other administrative team members as requested.
  • Perform low level maintenance and repairs of campus facilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental goals and objectives.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Establish priorities, anticipate department administrative and support needs, and work in an organized manner with emphasis on detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written communication skills for preparing various documents and reports, including keyboarding, editing and consistent application of correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Strong detail orientation, accuracy and follow up in work product.
  • Ability to handle complex phone inquiries and interact in a calm and supportive manner with diverse and culturally diverse group of faculty, staff and students.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision and as a member of a team, seek consultation when necessary.
  • High level of reliability, creativity and commitment to maintain confidentiality.
  • The ability to handle tasks and last minute requests with a positive and supportive attitude and to stay flexible when priorities shift.
  • Must have outstanding oral and written communication skills; the ability to multi-task and maintain a high level of productivity and efficiency.
  • The ability to perform low level maintenance including but not limited to painting, furniture installation,
  • Must be responsible and quick thinking and an innate ability to anticipate and respond to issues.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team, comfortable both asking for and offering help to meet team goals
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with both the campus leadership team, faculty, staff, and students.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Past work in a college/university setting desired
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) Experience a plus
  • Exceptional customer services skills
  • Must be able to lift approx. 50lbs
