About the PositionThe EOP Transition Support Programs Coordinator will be responsible for managing innovative programs of transition and retention for educationally and economically disadvantaged students. This position is responsible for development, operation, and overall facilitation of EOP mentoring programs including I Can I Will, New Student Mentors, Academic Coaching for Educational Success and Summer Bridge.
Required Qualifications-Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related.
-Three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience. A master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling.
Preferred Qualifications-Master's degree in Educational Counseling, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or related field.
-2-3 years of experience in transition, mentor, and/or summer transition programs.
-Prior experience managing a budget.
-Prior experience working with First Generation students in a higher education environment.
-Academic advising experience.
-SJSU experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities-Working knowledge of software applications: Google Suite, Navigate, and other database management systems.
-Ability to interpret and convey CSU, SJSU, UGS, and Academic Advising and Retention Services policies and procedures to ensure student success.
-Strong oral communication skills. Must possess excellent customer service and public relations skills.
-Knowledge of or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of Title V of the California State Education Code, EOP Executive Orders, California State University Executive Orders, San Jose State University and Equal Opportunity Program admissions policies and procedures.
-Ability to learn non-resident tuition policies including AB540; ability to acquire and apply knowledge of disability resources and admissions requirements.
-Ability to analyze and evaluate applications and transcripts.
