Under general supervision, coordinates housing activities and other aspects of student life in the resident hall to create positive living and learning environment for student residents. Lives on campus.
Essential Duties SummarySupervises and trains resident assistants in the operational procedures of the resident hall. Assigns tasks, work schedules, and activities to resident assistants and workstudy students. Conducts new resident orientation and advises students of their right to due process under the University’s Judicial Review Process. Enforces Residential Life and University policies, rules and regulations in the resident hall. Reports incidents, injuries/illnesses and policy violations to the Housing Office. Conducts building inspections, reports damages, determines liabilities and assesses damage charges for repairs. Maintains current and accurate room condition forms for each resident; ensures proper procedures are followed when residents check in, changes rooms or moves out. Coordinates cleaning and repairs of resident hall with maintenance and custodial supervisors. Acts as liaison for students of resident hall at administrative staff meetings to provide student input. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMust have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have the ability effectively deliver housing services to a diverse student population. Must have the ability to use personal computers and Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Access and Banner.
Work ExperienceRequires one to three years of related experience. Requires a working knowledge of standard practices and procedures.
Leadership/Supervisory ResponsibilitiesLead worker over others in similar jobs and/or provide work leadership and direction for students and/or employees.
Work Complexity/Budget AuthorityTasks are multiple and focus more on single processes. Work is sometimes standardized and sometimes varied. No responsibility for budget, revenues and expenditure authority.
Independent Judgment/Decision Making/Problem Solving SkillsPerforms tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and some innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies and practices. Refers unusual problems to supervisor.
Personal/Organizational ContactsRegular contact with others, including students, general public, visitors and University personnel. Purpose of contacts is to explain, clarify or interpret information. May handle confidential information and some complex matters.
Customer Service RelationshipsRequires moderate interpersonal and communication skills to ensure that customer requests or needs are met. Acknowledges and clarifies customer inquiries, requests, or complaints to ensure that needs are identified, documented and addressed.
Working/Environmental ConditionsWork is performed within routine office environment with no exposure to hazardous or unpleasant conditions. Physical demands are usually limited to sitting or standing in one location much of the time. Some stooping, lifting or carrying objects of light weight may be required.
