Description

Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice Provost of Undergraduate Academic Support, the Academic Advisor and Director of College Learning Communities (CLC) Program provides academic advising for undergraduate students served by CAC. The incumbent will also develop and implement an assessment program for academic advising and participate in strategic planning. Major responsibilities of the position include: (1) providing advising regarding academic requirements and options, (2) participating in the development, administration, and evaluation of all programs under the jurisdiction of College Academic Counseling, (3) participating in outreach activities of the unit as assigned, including in-person, phone and on-line advising activities, and (4) teaching selected courses under the University Studies subject area.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. and knowledge of issues in higher education; experience working with academic policy and programs at a large public research university; knowledge of UCLA processes and procedures; broad familiarity with existing curriculum, programs and services for UCLA undergraduates; experience with academic advising in a higher education setting; skills in information retrieval and data management; demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively in programs and activities involving faculty, staff, and students; possess interpersonal skills to interact effectively with persons of differing social, educational, economic and cultural backgrounds; have the ability to be flexible and pay attention to detail while keeping in mind the overall mission of College Academic Counseling.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Position salary range is $60,304/year to $75,927/year.

This is a full-time (100% time) position, with a projected mid-September start date.

UCLA is a public research university located in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. It was founded in 1919 and is the second oldest of the ten campuses affiliated with the University of California system. In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
