Research Coordinator - Dietary Assessment Unit, Human Nutrition Center on Aging

DescriptionThis is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay. This is a part-time, benefits eligible position, working 17.5 hours per week.

The Dietary Assessment Unit (DAU) at the HNRCA is a core unit that provides dietary assessment services within the HNRCA as well as in collaboration with Tufts and outside institutions. The DAU provides expertise and services in dietary data collection methods, coding, data cleaning and management and dietary data analysis for projects ranging from small HNRCA intervention studies to larger multidisciplinary protocols to existing dietary data sets. The unit assists in the development of dietary intervention sections of new protocols, advises on dietary data collection methodology, develops necessary manuals of procedures and nutrition-related materials and works to create new methodology to improve the collection of dietary data. The DAU provides a centralized, consistent and high standard dietary data collection service across the HNRCA.

The DAU Research Coordinator will be responsible for administration, collection and review of dietary assessment tools for multiple protocols. This includes food records, 24 hour recalls and food frequency questionnaires. The DAU Research Coordinator will also assist with data entry/coding and quality control checks of dietary data collected by the DAU. In addition, the DAU Research Coordinator will assist the DAU Manager and Research RD in the following: maintenance of the DAU calendar; DAU-related literature searches; quality control checks; and assist with training.

QualificationsBasic Requirements:
  • BS in nutrition, dietetics or related science field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a research setting.
  • MS Office, Medline/Pubmed, familiarity with nutrition assessment databases.
  • Strong verbal communication skills. Interacts well with others.
  • Ability to obtain CITI training to work with human subjects within one month of start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Registered Dietitian.
  • Experience with Nutrition Data Systems for Research (NDSR) or similar food analysis program and familiarity with US food items and food patterns.

Special Work Schedule Requirements:
This position may occasionally require work on evenings and/or weekends as determined by study need.
