Overview

To establish and oversee implementation of the procedures, processes, standards and guidelines necessary to ensure that engineering activities at PPPL support the mission of the Laboratory and comply with all applicable PPPL, DOE and industrial policies and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Provides oversight of engineering activities performed by PPPL and ensures that engineering functions are performed effectively and conservatively with respect to risks to the Laboratory
  • Defines and oversees implementation of engineering procedures, standards and guidelines to ensure consistency and quality of engineering output as well as compliance with applicable PPPL, DOE, and commercial standards
  • Reviews and approves various documents based upon the graded approach as defined by PPPL’s Quality Assurance Program Description
  • Serves on Design Review Boards for critical items
  • Maintains roster of Technical Authorities
  • Advises Laboratory management on operational matters relate to its experimental programs and infrastructure
Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • Master’s degree in relevant engineering field
  • 15 years of experience engineering leadership of large, complex projects involving system integration, systems engineering, and interface management
  • 10 years of experience working with technically diverse teams

 

Desirable credentials:

  • PhD in relevant engineering field
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Experience in the design, construction, or operation of a nuclear fusion or particle accelerator facility
  • Experience in implementation of DOE Order 420.2c, Safety of Accelerator Facilities
