Reporting to the Manager of Enterprise Data Services, the successful candidate will:

  • Work with faculty/staff at the University to assess needs, enhance existing and design new reports and programs to promote the use of the Ellucian Banner Student Information System
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to ensure local/vendor changes do not negatively impact the stability and security of our systems
  • Work collaboratively within ITS to maintain the availability and integrity of University systems
  • Produce technical and user documentation
  • Actively participate in collaborative activities with peer institutions
  • Use Jira Service Desk for processing incidents, problems, and service requests.
  • Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.



  • 4-year degree in programming or related field
  • Minimum one year of experience in SQL reporting and development (including stored procedures, packages, functions, triggers)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of structured/object-oriented programming and query languages
  • Established experience in Database design and development within a relational database such as MS SQL Server or Oracle
  • Strong problem solving skills and decision making ability
  • Ability to research and keep current with constantly changing technology
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a Team environment and individually along with a demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of vendors, service providers, students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of campus and department mission
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of campus and department mission;
  • Experience with instructional technology;
  • Demonstrated commitment to the university, division, and profession.



  • Experience with Ellucian Banner Student Information System
  • Experience using Linux, Windows and Mac OS
  • Experience with Oracle PL/SQL and PL/SQL Developer or comparable IDE
  • Experience with Argos Reporting or equivalent reporting applications/Business Intelligence tools
  • Experience with web technologies (HTML5, CSS, Javascript, etc.)
  • Experience with Pro*Cobol, Pro*C, SQR, Java
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience with Source Code Control, Git preferred
  • Interest in, and commitment to, community engagement.


Additional Information:
This Programmer Analyst position is a full-time, term appointed, SL2, represented by UUP.  To begin July 2019.
