Working in partnership with the Assistant Director, student staff, campus partners, other stakeholders, the First-Year to Career Graduate Assistant co-facilitates planning, implementation and assessment efforts with a focus on the career education initiatives in the College of Arts & Sciences.

The FYC Graduate Assistant may:

  • Coordinate A&S Collegiate Connections Alumni Mentoring Program
  • Plan and execute special events and programs related to career education
  • Create content and manage the A&S First-Year to Career web presence
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop strategies using social media and targeted student emails
  • Facilitate drop-in career coaching sessions with students that may include, but are not limited to resume and cover letter review, mock interviews, job and internship search strategies
  • Maintain database of key faculty & staff to correspond opportunities or event notifications via email
  • Develop content for a career newsletter for undergraduates in the College of Arts & Sciences
  • Create and implement programmatic assessments, research projects
  • Coordinate some clerical tasks or other duties as needed

We look for students with:

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within a team

All candidates must be prepared to:

  • Be enrolled at UC for the entirety of the 2019-2020 school year
  • Work 20 hours/week during the 2019-2020 school year; includes some evening commitments
  • Available for training on-campus August 5-23

Ideal candidates will have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Prior professional experience
  • Public relations
  • Organizational communication
  • Event production
  • Assessment/research project design & implementation
