Georgia State University has a great career opportunity for a Registered Nurse who is committed to providing outstanding culturally competent, evidence based care for college students on our growing campus community. This position reports directly to the Clinical Director. It is a lead position for the STI testing program within the clinics and would complete and notify patients for follow-up care with STI labs. We seek a committed individual who is dedicated to providing high quality care to our diverse college student population.  Experience with primary health care, internal medicine, or urgent care is preferred. Clinical hours are provided weekdays across multiple campuses. No week-ends and no on-call. Georgia State has health clinic locations at the Atlanta, Clarkston, and Dunwoody campuses.  This position is based at the Atlanta campus and will occasionally travel to the other campuses as needed.


The scope of responsibility associated with the Registered Nurse will include the following duties but is not limited to the following,

  • Administer oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular medications as directed by the clinician

  • Measure vital signs

  • Perform assessments and obtain medical histories

  • Participate in campus health fairs and screening days

  • Provide patient education

  • Triage patients

  • Assist with medical procedures routinely performed in primary or urgent outpatient care

  • Utilize electronic medical records to document assessment and treatment

  • Assist in making referrals to community providers when needed

  • Counsel patients for STI and HIV testing and prevention

  • Collect and process specimens including blood

  • Perform point of care diagnostic tests and controls

  • Clean and sterilize instruments

  • Medications and supply inventory

  • Oversee the medical assistants as needed

  • Perform other professional duties as assigned or required

QualificationsBachelor's degree and one year of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience. A current Georgia Registered Nurse (RN) nursing license and CPR certification is required.
