Overview

The Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment seeks a Grants and Finance Manager to be responsible for managing the financial operations of the Center. The Andlinger Center is a growing center aimed at cultivating a vibrant community geared towards finding innovative solutions to the complex challenges related to energy and the environment.  The position reports to the Business Manager.

Responsibilities

 

The Grants/Finance Manager is responsible for all aspects of pre- and post-award grant administration, including preparation of research budgets and proposal materials, ensuring all University and sponsor guidelines and deadlines are met with accurate and complete materials. This position administers sponsored research expenditures and assures documentation is accurate and appropriate. The incumbent prepares financial reports; provides financial analysis of sponsored research spending and projections; administers effort certification process; initiates and coordinate sub-award/contract process; and handles grant extensions, supplements, re-budgeting and transfers to other institutions.

 

  • Prepares financial reports for non-sponsored funds, including endowments, term gifts and university funds and provides financial review and analysis of center accounts.
  • Handles day-to-day financial functions, including oversight of labor and expense activity.
  • Oversees and leads financial and accounting tasks performed by students, researchers and staff. Reviews credit card expenditures. Communicates sponsored research policies and regulations to faculty, staff, and students, ensures compliance to applicable laws, policies and procedures, and serves as a liaison to university research administrators.
  • Communicates university financial policies and procedures to faculty, researchers, staff and students and ensures compliance.
  • Evaluates and recommends operational efficiencies and improvements to business processes. 
  • Assists the Business Manager with other job-related projects and duties as identified.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field and 4 – 6 years of relevant work experience. (Extensive work experience may be substituted for educational requirement; at least one year experience in the proposal and administration of sponsored research projects.
  • Knowledge of grant proposal process and grant administration required; knowledge of financial analysis and projection, accounting processes and budgeting is required.
  • Knowledge of DOE and NSF guidelines helpful.
  • The successful candidate will have exceptional attention to detail, demonstrate initiative, work independently in a fast-paced environment, and have strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • The ideal candidate will have ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. The individual must meet deadlines and ensure confidentiality.
