The Director, Regional Engagement reports to the Senior Director, Regional Engagement and is  responsible for assisting the Regional Engagement team with the strategic vision, planning, development, measurement, and execution of an effective regional engagement program that fosters a high level of alumni participation and that meets the established goals developed for the programs. 

Job Description:
• Assist with the development of a strategic plan for the ’Canes Communities including events, meetings, and other regional programs involving visits from the President, Vice President, Deans, University staff, administration and faculty, aligning goals and objectives with the University of Miami Alumni Association Strategic Plan.
• Staff and manage a portfolio of national Canes Communities and assist alumni volunteer leaders with programming, volunteer requirement, maintenance of leadership boards, and leadership succession plans.
• Help maintain an up-to-date alumni handbook outlining “best practices” for regional alumni leaders.  Train alumni volunteers on the Alumni Association’s “best practices” for regional engagement including training of online tools.
• Manage PRIDE program including the collection of information from alumni clubs to designate PRIDE winners and manage process of rewarding PRIDE credit. 
• Identify, recruit, train and manage alumni volunteers in accordance with the policies and practices set forth by the Office of Alumni Relations.
• Administer and maintain regular engagement with volunteer leaders through personal visits, telephone calls, e-mail and correspondence.
• Monitor and manage alumni website by tracking compliant use of ’Canes Communities guidelines, effective marketing, and maintaining updated information.
• Assist with development of effective marketing plans for ’Canes Communities and national tours including but not limited to the management of online registrations, e-marketing, and social media outlets.
• Implement a community service component into alumni programming within targeted geographic areas.
• Market, manage, and implement a portfolio of programs and events which requires nationwide coordination with high level donors, alumni leaders, parents, and incoming students.  
• Maximize alumni engagement for regional activities by using various recruitment and communication vehicles including but not exclusive to direct mail, listserves, websites, telephone campaigns, committee outreach efforts and personal contacts.
• Identify and recruit volunteers to provide support for university programs, such as career mentoring/placement, student recruitment representatives, presidential inaugural representatives and annual fund.
• Assist with and coordinate the scheduling and planning of all regional, off-campus engagement events, coordinating efforts with alumni volunteers.  This includes but is not limited to the planning and execution of selected alumni functions in conjunction with away sporting events.
• Develop and implement an annual plan for athletic programming/engagement including but not limited to game watches, pre-games, bowls, and other athletic programming.

Administration:
• Benchmark and track important alumni outreach objectives including alumni engagement within designated programs.
• Responsible for the effective fiscal management of assigned program budgets.
• Serve as responsible person in charge of Regional Engagement programs in the absence of the Senior Director.
• Assists Regional Engagement leaders with any matters or responsibilities deemed appropriate.
• Responsible for effective use of the alumni web site, list-serve for assigned programs and other online communication platforms.

University Liaison Activities:
• Serve as a liaison to the Development community to ensure communication and support of relevant programming and engagement opportunities to further the mission of all alumni programs and maximize impact.
• Staff various committees and subcommittees for the University of Miami Alumni Association Board of Directors as assigned.

Supervision:
• Responsible for the recruitment, management and supervision of alumni volunteers and volunteer groups responsible for their identified programs.
• Benchmark, monitor, and adjust as necessary, the assigned program areas as they relate to defined goals, procedures, operational plans, budgets, and timetables.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with major emphasis in business/marketing and/or communications preferred. A minimum of four years of effective and relevant work experience. Equivalent combinations of education/experience may be considered. Previous experience in supervising staff and working with volunteer based support groups and/or students and special event coordination is essential. Ability to persuade and negotiate with internal and external audiences required.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, as well as the ability to interact with all university constituents. Flexibility in schedule due to the high time demands of the position and travel is required.
