Job Summary

Assist the Equipment Manager with equipment needs of the University of Massachusetts Football team.

Essential Functions

  • Management and dissemination of all football team equipment.
  • Travels to all away games; set-up away locker room for game day.
  • Works during football pre-season camp taking place during the month of August.
  • Must be in attendance at every practice, regardless of weather conditions.
  • Daily set-up, organization, and break-down of practice field with equipment.
  • Daily laundering of practice uniforms and laundry loops practice.
  • Re-check air pressure in practice balls daily and game balls on game day.
  • Assist officials on game-day as necessary.
  • Checks hardware/defects on practice helmets.
  • Polish football game helmets weekly.
  • Weekly check of game helmets and shoulder pads for loose hardware, cracks, torn decals, etc., and fix/replace as needed.
  • Re-stocking of game trunks each week before travel.
  • Assist and work directly with all football coaches and players on their equipment needs on a daily basis.
  • Operate motor vehicle to travel to work sites.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • High School Diploma required
  • Ability to maintain inventories and keep simple records
  • Ability to make simple arithmetical computations
  • Physical ability to handle bulky or heavy stock items, equipment & supplies
  • Ability to carry out oral and written instructions
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook
  • Ability to deal tactfully with others
  • Valid Driver's License required

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Knowledge of store keeping methods and practices preferred
  • Knowledge of issuing, fitting, cleaning and maintaining athletic equipment preferred

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Variable hours depending on the demands of the position; evenings and weekends required; may work in inclement weather; ability to carry up to 50 lbs.; extended periods of standing; travel required

Additional Details

  • Presence at all home contests and travel with the teams to all away contests required.
  • Presence at all team practices required.
  • Prior intercollegiate athletic experience desirable.

Work Schedule

M-F with variable hours depending on the demands of the position; evenings and weekends required (40 hours per week)

Salary Information

$12.00 per hour
