As a member of the CIO’s leadership team, the IT Communication Director defines the “voice” of the organization and recommends, shapes, and implements organizational strategy, processes, and policies. This work includes understanding and demonstrating the value of IT by assessing performance of the central IT services portfolio, as a whole, and recommending change to increase satisfaction and adoption rates and better meet campus needs.

Building and sustaining relationships within the organization, with campus IT units, and throughout the university across diverse constituents is key to carrying out these responsibilities.
Responsible for leading Information Technology Services’ overall content strategy, including the tools and methods used for communicating (website, social media, mailing lists, IT events, university channels, etc.)

Manages a team of staff focused on supporting the creation, marketing, communication and change of IT services and initiatives.

Responsible for defining, developing, and assessing the services offered in communication, documentation, change management and training.

Oversees the development, analysis, and management of communication and marketing campaigns to ensure desired impact, consistency of messaging, and effectiveness.

Identifies and implements strategies to improve the organization’s understanding of the needs of the FSU community, to align the IT services portfolio accordingly, and to raise awareness of and build preference for centrally offered IT services, in collaboration with IT service managers/owners and IT unit directors.

Responsible for strategic reporting including Executive leadership Team meeting notes, annual reports, presentations and CIO materials.

Responsible for coordinating and developing strategic events to further outreach, service and technology objectives.

Establishes and maintains the highest team standards for content usability and best practices for communicating the right information using the right tools for the right audiences.

Performs special projects and duties related to compliance with ITS policies, guidelines, and processes pertaining to support requests, work orders, project management, change management, and incident management in support of the ITS mission.

Knowledge of and the ability to strategically align tasks and people with organizational goals and objectives.Qualifications Master's degree and five years' experience related to media, communications, or marketing or a Bachelor's degree and seven years of related experience. Two years of experience must be in a supervisory role.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to convey technical information to technical and non-technical users.

Ability to develop and implement a successful marketing plan/strategy.

Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.

Ability to gather, interpret, report, and/or edit information.

Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

Ability to maintain and improve personal and team effectiveness, and foster change and creativity.

Ability to provide leadership and direction in programmatic, budgetary, and operational functions.

Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.

Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.

Knowledge of data analysis techniques and methodology.

Knowledge of public relations practices.

Knowledge of research methodology, principles, and practices in area of work.

Ability to conceptualize and implement ways to improve the organization by taking risks to enhance the speed and organizational ability to adapt, change and create.Preferred Demonstrated strength in innovative, visionary, and strategic thinking.

Keen intellectual capacity and creativity and deep knowledge of best practices and trends in communication, content strategy, and user experience.

Proven skill in building teams to be highly effective through hiring, leading, mentoring, and coaching.

Exceptional writing, editorial, interpersonal, and qualitative and quantitative research skills.
