Academic Advisor

Job description

Position Summary

Advise students on academic programs, policies and procedures and provide career counseling. Interpret University and school policies and recommend exceptions to policy when appropriate. Work closely with Director of Master's Studies (DMS) on the M.A. Program. Advise prospective and current students on field and course selection, academic probation, withdrawal policy, leaves of absence, summer studies, and career paths; interpret University and School policies and procedures to faculty, advisors, and students. Evaluate advisement services and make recommendations; assist with the development and implementation of department's advisement procedures and systems.


Required Education:Bachelor's DegreeRequired Experience:2 years' related experience including advising students and developing training materials or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
