Overview

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

  • Serve as primary event planner for specialized recruitment projects, including out-of-state and specialized recruitment. This involves a high level of coordination and collaboration.
  • Handle all logistics and planning for events related to out-of-state and specialized recruitment efforts, including planning large scale events like the Explore SDSU Welcome reception, on-the-road admission presentations, Presidential Scholars Graduation Celebration and Presidential Scholars Convocation Luncheon.
  • Supervise student assistants and provide training as needed to ensure great service, accurate information is delivered and adequate coverage is available for the office.
  • Oversee the data entry of prospects/leads into the CRM database and track events using Hobsons.
  • Provide office management and support to Out-of-State and Specialized Recruitment area.
  • Other event and projects as assigned.

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $3,271 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,115 - $5,475 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Minimum Qualifications

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.

These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills

  • Two or more years of clerical, administrative support experience in a customer service environment.
  • Experience in a university setting working with diverse student populations.
  • One or more years event planning experience.
  • Experience working in a college or university's admissions, advising, evaluations, registrar, or other student service related office.
  • Experience using a CRM system for managing prospects, recruiting events, and/or communication with students
