Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for Instructional Designer. This position is responsible for developing relevant and effective course design for traditional, hybrid, and online learning platforms as needed while consulting with faculty to analyze learning needs. The position is directly responsible for the application of various design models and delivery systems to meet the distance educational needs of the University. The Instructional Designer will recommend, cutting edge and best practice tools to achieve and measure student-learning outcomes. These duties would include supporting institutional and program assessment, improvement of all online learning platforms, and serve as the main purveyor of institutional data that links student effort and student success. The Instructional Designer will develop instructional materials for existing and new initiatives that are in accordance with system-wide best practices and examples. The Instructional Designer will also recommend appropriate learning tools for faculty such as Quality Matters and best practices from the Distance Education Accrediting Commission. Some other duties will include developing course and program assessment methods. May be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.Minimum Qualifications
A Master’s degree in instructional design, education technology or strongly related field and certification in Quality Matters as well as demonstrated experience with Distance Education Accrediting Commission is required. Preferred qualifications: Doctorate Degree and credentials from an accredited institution with significant work experience in authoring online programs, training faculty with data driven decision-making skills, and analyzing the work. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience required in the design and development of innovative curriculum design in a University setting required. Must have experience with qualitative and quantitative assessment methods and experience with tracking students and their development in the online terrain. Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory, evidence-based instructional design models, innovative instructional technology, and distance education required. Experience in developing, implementing, and supporting successful faculty development programs regarding optimal instructional design strongly preferred.
