General Description

Delaware County Community College, a competency-based institution, committed to diversity invites applications for a Director of Paralegal Studies Program in our Division of Business, Computing, and Social Sciences.

The Director of Paralegal Studies Program provides administrative leadership and teach courses as the division continues to develop the Paralegal program. The successful applicant will be an individual who will coordinator the Paralegal Studies program and teach academic courses in that program. This is a 12–month position and reports directly to the Dean of the Public Services and Social Science Division.

Duties

Primary responsibilities include but not limited to :-

ABA APPROVED DUTIES

  • Defines major program objectives and review courses and oversee the development and improvement of curricula for the paralegal program.
  • Assists in developing distance learning for paralegal program and represent the program throughout the administrative and academic structure of the institution.
  • Teaches a course or courses in the program semester.
  • Determines the financial needs of the program and, with assistance, formulate the program budget.
  • Ensures personal professional development through active participation in educational programs and membership in professional associations including American Association for Paralegal Education and its conferences.
  • Relates course assessment outcomes to program goals.
  • In partnership with other college offices, assess graduate and employer opinions regarding the program.
  • Advises program students regarding program curriculum requirements.
  • Recruits and Leads the Advisory Board that will support the program, ensuring its proper organization and operation and conduct Advisory Board meetings at least two times during the academic year.
  • Organizes the program to meet the defined ABA standards in preparation for the ABA Approval Process.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
  • Responds to student, faculty, departmental and administration questions regarding the program.
  • Assists and facilitate hiring, supervision and retention of qualified faculty and conduct faculty meetings at least two times during the academic year and create faculty professional development opportunities.
  • Recruits students into the certificate program and AAS programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate must have: -

  • Must have a Juris Doctorate (J.D.), from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of three years administrative experience in an academic setting and three years of college teaching preferred.
  • Committed to excellence in teaching as well as evidence a thorough understanding of curriculum development, competency-based education, differentiated instruction, diverse learning styles, classroom technologies, and distance learning.
  • Should be willing to participate in active service to the department, the division,
  • Must be committed to achieving academic excellence, valuing and appreciating diversity, and fostering a spirit of collaboration.

Pennsylvania Act 153 Clearances
Applicants are required to either present to human resources current and valid PA Act 153 clearances or be able to obtain them expediently.
