  • Position Description

    Provide vision, leadership, and decision-making for the internship and employment functions of the Career Services department. Orchestrate outreach and marketing efforts to on- and off-campus employers increasing and developing new part-time and full-time employment opportunities for UToledo students. Manage and cultivate signature internship programs to provide additional experiential learning opportunities for students. Oversee employer related visits on and off campus (e.g., immersion excursions, employer events, classroom visits, employer retreats.) Develop and pursue sponsorship opportunities from external employers to support events and programming. Manage the job posting system (Handshake), including the approval of new employers, jobs, and other events. Provide the strategic vision for a comprehensive student employment program that serves as a high-quality, high-impact, developmental experience for student employees. Collect assessment data and benchmark employment trends and best practices to strategical enhancement programs, events and services. Direct supervision of the events coordinator and student employment specialist. Assist in providing strategic leadership and direction of the Career Services department.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Requirements

    • Master's degree in Business, Human Resources, Professional Sales, Communications or related field
    • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in employment/recruitment/sales/HR
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Excellent problem-solving ability and proven organizational skills
    • Must be highly motivated and results oriented
    • Experience in collecting and using data to support a strategic plan, mission, or goal
    • Supervisory experience
    • Knowledge of Career Services, employer relations, or related field

    Preferred

    • Familiarity with talent management systems or career services managers (e.g. Handshake or Symplicity)
    • Experience prospecting, networking, and new business development
    • Experience creating and developing tiered sponsorship opportunities for targeted employers
    • Working knowledge of student employment and work-study programs
    • Experience event planning

     Communication and other skills:

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Creative thinker/planner, innovative, and idea-rich
    • Proficient user of Microsoft Office suite of tools particularly Excel and Word
    • Proven attention to detail, organizational abilities
    • Capacity to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
    • Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered
