DATA AND SYSTEMS ANALYST
ResponsibilitiesThe Registrar/Academic Services Data and Systems Analyst will be primarily responsible for providing hands-on technology and information support for the Registrar’s Office and academic division. The Data Analyst will work closely with the Registrar leadership team to maintain, enhance, and test existing technologies and develop comprehensive strategies for applying technology to improve business processes. The Data Analyst reports to the Registrar with dotted line reporting to the CIO and is the key individual responsible for maintaining and enhancing our existing software systems (e.g. Banner, Degree Works, 25 Live/Lynx interface, Perceptive Content, Courseleaf CAT and CIM, Cognos, etc.). This individual develops appropriate processes to ensure data integrity and produce reports needed to manage Registrar software and data systems. In addition, this role strives to ensure that all new data points and processes are set up to work throughout the entire Wheaton College technology ecosystem and comply with legal and data security requirements. This individual also assists with technical project planning and management, assisting with vendor support management as appropriate. Duties
  1. System Management
  • Provide assistance identifying technical solutions that will solve business problems for the division. Assist with developing priority order of solution deployment.
  • Identify creative solutions for ongoing support of systems.
  • Develop web strategy for the division in partnership with Marketing and Communications.
    1. Project Management
  • Leverage technology to provide increased efficiencies, faster services, and reduced costs.
  • Develop and maintain written and online system documentation, reference, and training materials.
  • Serve as a liaison to Academic and Institutional Technology department regarding system modifications, process improvements, system upgrades and changes to system data tables or modules.
  • Participate in evaluation of new technology and systems, if applicable.
    1. Data Management and Reporting
  • Function as an expert regarding all Student data found in Banner and other departmental systems, including underlying table construct, in order to effectively manage, analyze and manipulate data and create reports.
  • Develop and distribute standardized reports utilizing Cognos Analytics for Academic Division staff to support key business processes
  • Support legal compliance which requires a strong understanding FERPA and Academic Processes.
  • Help maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data.
    1. Perform other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications
    1. Bachelor’s degree required preferably in systems or business
    2. 5+ years of experience as a data analyst; experience working with Banner student information system, Ellucian Degree Works, Courseleaf CAT/CIM, Hyland Perceptive or OnBase, and CollegeNet 25Live a plus.
    3. Experience developing and running reports using Cognos Analytics.
    4. Excellent analytical and data manipulation skills
    5. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to document business needs and translate to technical staff; ability to explain technical issues in an understandable manner
    6. Proven project management ability
    7. Experience working collaboratively in a team environment
    8. Working knowledge of academic processes a plus
    9. Experienced working with form generation products and a workflow modeling tool is a plus.
    10. Must be able to work effectively in a dynamic, deadline-driven, complex, team-based environment with multiple competing priorities while being highly responsive to requests
